Pig

A cheerful and rosy cheeked pig that's looking for some chocolate chip cookies.

Pig is by far the shortest jar in proportion. I made the lid too large which in turn caused the body to be very short.

When sculpting this jar, I also made a chocolate chip cookie for the pig to hold, but it popped out during the first bisque firing and I never re-attached it. I also felt inclined to give him a little smile during underglazing because something felt missing. The peach underglaze that I got turned out to be much darker than I liked when looking at my test tiles. However, it worked okay with this pig and under bright light, the colour looks even better.

When sculpting, I spent the most time on the ears. They were a lot more realistic than anything else I’ve sculpted and I wanted to make sure they were still somewhat fitting with the rest of the jar’s features. This brave pig was also the first jar sent thorugh glaze firing because I was nervous about fused lids on the rest of the batch. Since I was so careful with leaving a gap, it came out great!
