Orange Fox
The fluffy white moustache on this fox makes him seem wiser than he looks.
When sculpting this fox, I really emphasized the fluff on the fox’s cheeks and they took a long time to shape and attach in a way that blended with the rest of the face naturally. I’d probably try a different approach next time, making smaller whiskers on a more narrow face. It would probably make a lot more sense on a jar with a smaller lid since foxes generally have longer, narrower faces.
This is my first time using the orange underglaze on a piece and it bubbled a lot. I bought a different shade of orange to try next time so we’ll see if I can get a consistent and smooth finish on my orange pieces. It was fun to paint arbitrary jagged edges on the tail, belly and ears to make the fox look extra fluffy. Since I used bmix clay here, I also had to paint with white underglaze instead of leaving it as raw clay to get good contrast.
