Chicken
Although it can’t hold an extra large supermarket egg, maybe a smaller one will do.
My favourite part was sculpting the little teardrop shape underneath the beak called a wattle. It’s just so cute and ties the whole piece together. It was also fun to add the red piece on top of the head called the comb. This chicken is now fully accessorized!
This could’ve been a really easy paint job. But alas, I felt like something was missing. So I referenced images of real farm chickens to paint in a blend from yellow to white starting from the centerline of the jar. On the edges, I started adding feathers in the form of small ovals.
Learning from how I glazed the penguin jars, I made sure to use a pencil to mark the connection point and apply a clean band of wax on it.
The first thing I did after I brought the finished jar home was to see if an egg fits inside. Unfortunately, since I used an extra large egg from the supermarket, it was just a tad too tall.
